隠れた名盤　Part16

Carly Simon – Boys in the Trees(男の子のように)

1978年の作品です。
これは、隠れた名盤と言うより、懐かしい名盤になるのでしょうか。
本作からの第1弾シングル「ユー・ビロング・トゥ・ミー」はBillboard Hot 100で6位、続く「愛をいつまでも」はHot 100で36位。
当時、フュージョンとAORに便乗したような形で作られた作品で、なおかつ、バックミュージシャンがもの凄い豪華!
マイケル・マクドナルドを筆頭に、元旦那のジェイムス・テイラー、スタッフ、ブレッカー、サンボーン等々・・・
1曲目の「ユー・ビロング・トゥ・ミー」のバックは、ほぼ、スタッフのメンバー、デビット・サンボーンが参加。
とにかく、リズムが重い・・・スティーブ・ガットとゴードン・エドワーズのリズムだから、納得できます。
カーリーは軽めに歌っているので、それが上手くマッチングしたのでしょうか。
中間部のサンボーンのソロは、歌が入っても好きなように吹いているみたいです(SAXの音量は小さめですが・・・)
個人的には、AORの雰囲気がある「Tranquillo (Melt My Heart)」がノリがある曲が好みです。
しみじみ聴きますと、Carly Simonは歌唱力あるな～、って、感心します。
